Audience Reflections

A feast for the eyes, a treat for the soul.

Your display makes me sad for the time I’ve wasted looking at my exterior and ignoring my interior. Today’s a new day! Thank you!

I want to thank you for putting so much of your time and yourself into this project. I recently had to undergo breast reduction surgery for medical reasons and it wasn’t until I did it that I realized how much of my body image was tied up in my breasts. I really did feel like I changed fundamentally and it took me a long time to adjust. It was so good to see that I wasn’t the only one who felt so defined by such a small part of my body. Keep up the amazing work!

This is absolutely beautiful. It makes me feel less alone. Thank you for sharing all this beauty and honesty.

A much needed revelation of truth.

I had to walk through the exhibition three times – once, to see the artwork, once to see the human canvass underneath, once to realize they are one and the same. Thank you for the self reflection and self revelation this has inspired. Best of luck.

I found your work stunning both collectively and individually. It reflects our differences with such grace and brings to life such a powerful common bond. It will stay with me as a powerful and elegant expression of the human spirit. Thank you.

Thank you so much for an inside look at this project. To read about it or to hear about it doesn’t do it justice… it has to be seen. I will be telling people about this project both on and off the air." CHUM Radio Kingston

A remarkable gift to those who participated – to see themselves anew through the eyes and hands of a loving artist. (Male)

Nothing is more powerful than the personal expression through art-work! This exhibit opens my eyes and gives me hope towards being supportive to the beautiful women in my life. Thank you for making a difference. (Male)

I found your art challenging and nervous to look at. I found your talk deeply moving and inspirational. Thank you for sharing your life, stories and insights. (Male)

Body image is just that – an image. Images change and fade and are recreated. Our form arises from our self – and changes as thoughts, opinions, feelings and intentions do. Thank you for holding a joyful and loving mirror to us.

Thank you so very much with helping my daughter reflect on her body. The world needs more people who honestly and positively say, ‘Our bodies, as they are, are beautiful.’

I love your show so much. I attended yesterday with my art class, and my friends and I had to go again. It was very inspirational. Thank you for the experience!

Thank you for sharing your work with us! It is empowering and inspiring. You spoke at the Eating disorder program that I attend. Your talk was thought provoking and real. You opened up my eyes – not only with regards to the way I feel about my body but also pointed out the negative messages seen in society. (i.e. CSI) It is the beginning of my journey – to love my body. Thank you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Best wishes

Great exhibit! Shows how even though we are similar - we are all unique and individual.

I would like to spend a whole day by myself just completely lost in this project. Thank you.

A great way to encourage change.

Your message is important, your art is breath-taking and your spirit is truly generous! Thank you.

Very moving, I have found as a plus size woman that many people demean women who do not conform to the norm. Your work is beauty in reality.

Great exhibit. Very empowering. Reality – the hidden truth. Best of luck.

My 13 year old son saw your presentation at his school. He was very enthusiastic as he told me his own and his observed peer reactions. Never let it be said that this does not benefit the boys!

Thank you for listening so deeply.

I’m here again! 4th visit – brought yet another friend to be amazed and enlightened. Each time I’ve come I’ve seen and felt different things, new perspectives. Best of luck in your endeavour.

A momentary loss of word & yet so much to say! Incredibly powerful exhibit – thanks to all the women for sharing their stories and their bodies. This is reality!

You have embraced the power of art to transform the world. Bless you.

No wonder bra straps are adjustable… Too bad that the media hasn’t got that understanding of women’s uniqueness.

I can’t remember the last time I was moved to tears by an exhibit of art… Bravo

With the way society and the media make women feel about themselves, it is wonderful to see a project such as this that shares not only the physical beauty of the women involved, but also shares a glimpse into their spiritual and inner beauty as well. This project brought tears to my eyes. I am touched and inspired. Thank you.

It is great to see all of the different bodies to show that not everyone is the same and that we don’t need to be. (13 year old)

Wonderful – I can’t wait to share this exhibit with my daughters and granddaughters

I smiled. I cried.

Thank you so much for bringing this project to Cambridge. For years I have been trying to help my 11 year old daughter see how beautiful she is. You convinced her of this in a mere hour. Again, thank you.

I found it interesting that as I moved through the exhibit, I was more interested in the story of each cast, than I was in what the cast looked like. I came in wanting comfort in seeing that my imperfect body isn’t all that different from anyone else, yet I found that it’s my story that isn’t all that different – we are all the same!

In Drama class we learn that our bodies are our canvases; you’ve really put that into a visual aspect. No matter what size and shape you are, your body is your canvas for life.

A challenge and an invitation to be.
